Each day is sort of a new beginning.

That’s not exactly true because our days do not exist in a vacuum. We carry-over tasks from one day to another. Our relationships can last for many days and weeks and years. And the goals that we work toward are typically based on plans that we’ve made some time ago.

And yet, each day really is a sort of a new beginning. We are able to bring a positive attitude and sense of enthusiasm and a playful nature to the start of every day. Each new day permits us to reduce our focus upon disappointment and hurts and non-successes of yesterday. It allows us to commit to making the day a happy and successful one – even though we may fall short in some of our efforts by the end of the day.

Our chances of success are enhanced if we do a few simple tasks. In preparation for it, we can get a healthy amount of sleep and develop a reasonable “To Do List” – either compiled the night before or the first thing in the morning. A healthy breakfast and a commitment to take time during the day to make our bodies and minds active increases the odds of managing stress. Other planned stress relievers should include meditation time and a commitment allow enough time to get to work and other obligations without feeling rushed – and a willingness to say “no” rather than taking on an overloading schedule. It is most important to remind yourself early in the day of the things that make you awesome as well as reminding yourself to not let somebody else’s toxic behavior ruin your day.

It won’t always work. We all get blindsided by life some days. But a few positive steps early in the day, like those outlined above, will increase the chances of making your day productive and fun. And – if the day doesn’t turn out to be all that good, you get another chance to use this strategy tomorrow.
