Topic: If you are a positive psychologist, do you introduce patients/clients to the treatment process any differently than any other therapist?

Here’s what I do in both the verbal and written Informed Consent. My opening statement is that I’m really happy (or thrilled or pleased) that the person is here. It is a unique opportunity for us to work together, and I’m looking forward to it. I spell out my limited number of rules and regulations, and I ask the individual to contribute to the Informed Consent. My first assignment is to do a Mission Statement so that patient goals drive the therapy process. In so doing, I try to model a positive attitude and other character traits to let the patient know that I respect him/her, and I care.

How do YOU set the table for treatment as a positive psychologist?
