Members and followers of The Mental Health Gym know that we emphasize the importance of growing and changing in three main areas: health and fitness; intellectual functioning; and social functioning. People who are making progress in all three areas essentially are committed to moving forward in a mentally healthy way.
Coincidentally, if you pay attention to staying active and maintaining your personal growth in those areas, you will inevitably have balance in your life.
MENTALLY HEALTHY PEOPLE LEAD BALANCED LIVES.
All work or all play or full-time devotion to to any single facet of life for any length of time inevitably throws your life out of balance. We all have times when a project at work or training for an event or the presence of an illness or a need to be a caretaker for others may temporarily throw our lifestyle out of balance.
The operative word is temporary. If we maintain proper perspective we don’t permit a stressor to consume us and drain us and become a permanent way of life. When temporary stressors occur, even if they are temporarily overloading, we can’t allow ourselves to lose sight of the fact that our plan includes a return to a more balanced lifestyle as soon as possible.
To ensure that this takes place, make certain that you are getting your life into balance now. That will make it easier to maintain balance in your life and to return to a balanced lifestyle if things temporarily go out of whack.
